Yeah Homelander is definitely my favorite character in the show (as well as MM). He commands every scene he's in and has an odd redeeming quality about him. Like no matter how much of a crazy azzhole he appears to be he still wins you over. I love the complexity each character has. Unlike most superhero movies (prior to Thanos and a few others) nobody is just 'evil' for the sake of being evil. Each person has a unique character arch that inspires a feeling a understanding, pity, etc.

Here's the thing about the humour not always landing. If you were a perpetually paranoid person always getting targeted by the evil Justice League, you wouldn't always be 100% focused on making premium humour.


Besides. If Karl Urban was coming at you with a fucking sniper rifle or any of the other toys they tried to use on Translucent, he could be making knock-knock jokes and you'd shit your pants.

You know an actor is good at playing a villain when you feel a deep seated hatred whenever he's on screen to the point that it's hard to distinguish the actor and the character.

I like it bc it doesn’t be extra it doesn’t evolve around plot armor the stakes are high it doesn’t babysit u through a character like I thought they we’re everything is random just like in real life I really fuck with that

I was watching this with my mom and the first death caught us *so* off guard. I stopped watching it because it soon enough became my mom and her boyfriend's show. I'm so happy that they have their own show to watch and Charlie approves of it.

Billy butcher is a man of action. Not words. It's part of his character. So it makes sense his not very badass/intimidating when talking, his better when his punching.

The part where deep got his gills fingered by that crazy girl was just plain disturbing

Agree with what you said 100%. Only other criticism I would have is that sometimes the exposition was a bit heavy-handed. I know it's hard to build up complex characters in just 8 episodes but sometimes that "well hello step-sister, I haven't seen you since we had that big fight at our mother's funeral after she was murdered by that superhero" was a bit much at times

I think the scene in the first episode where Translucent is fucking catapulted through the shop was awesome. Just watching Nothing being thrown through shelves and electronics like that was really cool to me.

I am obsessed with this show. I thought it was gonna be a satire show but holy shit I was wrong. And the nerdy protagonist I never expected such character development in this show. And don’t get me started on Homelander

The cinematography was my least favorite part of this show... i hate the color pallets, light looks like baby food

4:49 I'm glad you mentioned this it drove me nuts when Hughie just kept all that info from Starlight towards the end of the season. Wasn't really in character for him.

The only thing I didn’t like about the show is how Hughie and Starlight met. The whole situation didn’t make sense and/or seemed too convenient.

(Watchmen did something similar but still entirely different) Thank fucking lord that this shit was made becuz this shit is so accurate in representing corporate America but with “superheroes.” It’s fucking genius. Thank you Seth Rogen. I can say with absolute confidence that this is the holy grail of this genre.
