I bet the pilot IS ok. He only had a seatbelt to get out of.

They need to have a safety demonstration before take off..... that accident landed pretty well..... there was no way at all those people should have died. If they knew how to unlock those safety belts they may have gotten out. Shock value plus freeze and no idea how to unlock .. no reason at all

Also, the pilot should have taken care of his passengers instead of being selfish.

It was quite easy for the pilot to escape, but maybe he should have stayed a little longer in the water with his passengers... they clearly needed help to survive. Idiotic death traps

After this incident, the FAA MUST require TWO FIXED PONTOONS (one on each side of the helicopter) on any ANY helicopter that flies over water with passengers. Forget that crap of having "inflatable" pontoons. Look what happened here, this helicopter had 6 SEPARATE INFLATABLE PONTOONS. That is a 1 in 6 chance that one will FAIL which is exactly what happened here. The imbalance of the pontoon that did not inflate caused the helicopter to tip over. IF..... this helicopter had been been equipped with two fixed pontoons NO ONE would have died in this incident.

Either way, I feel like having seatbelt cutters would be helpful on these kinds of things. So sad those lives were lost, what a horrible way to go. Plus I’m not sure how long they would have lasted in that cold of water.
