Easy to fix, Jalen Rose had a good take. Give players 0's for all their stats, when they sit out.

The man knows what he has to do to make it to and win the finals, quit hating on greatness. He'll probably have to take a few more fines along the way. Not like he minds.

Pretty simple put in a rule that states you cannot miss back to back games for load management purposes in consequitve weeks.

Let’s just get rid of the preseason games! Nobody cares about those. And keep the 82 games Season, relevant for the records, but starting in September.

One question: can a "shorter schedule" guarantee players to all the games they "suppose" to play? Or players will still sit out games?

Soft. I don't recall Jordan, Magic, Bird, Karl Malone, Stockton, Pippen, Hakeem, Thomas, Chamberlain, Russell etc taking nights off.

Maybe the league was softer then? Nicer hotels, charter flights, easier defense.

Windhorst is right. A shorter schedule is here. Players and teams are realizing that 82 games/season destroy the health of the players.
McGrady hasn't played 80/season in his career. And even so, he was riddled with career-altering injuries and sidelined early. He should be the poster boy for why we shouldn't force players to the 82 games in less than 6 months.

This is what happens when more than half the league makes the playoffs. If the key to winning the title is to be healthy in the playoffs, and it's not that hard to get into the playoffs, then every contender is going to consider the Popovich route. It's even worse now with tanking teams that it's easier than ever for a non-tanking team to make it to the postseason.

If it were actually hard to make it to the playoffs, then you can bet nobody would be "load managing" their stars in early November.

Stupid news, if the team feels that they can beat some other team without using their star players so be it. It also creates an opportunity for other bench players. They are probably saving stars for more important goals. Players are already overloaded with 82 games + playoffs, meaning that they must take some boosts for sure, which is never good in follow up years. ESPN is just loosing money and bitching about that they want better ratings (views). Pure business!

How did MJ and Magic play so many years deep into the playoffs every year and manage to stay injury free and still play so well all year? Kobe seemed to have more injuries later in his career but still played at a high level right into the playoffs. Michael would never have sat still for load management and it was a much more physical game at that time!

I would have to think that the new player could only do it because of the rest. M.j, Bird, and Magic didn’t have the longest careers because they were playing a hundred games a season year in and year out.

Toronto managed KL enough he was good enough to win a title. It yielded results. We can all comment on whether its good or bad, but for the teams its "to each his own" mentality. They gotta do what they gotta do to try to win a title.

Haha, well did you ever tell your HR department that you want to only work a few days before they hire you? Because that's what Kahwi did, it's an agreement between him and Clippers as well as in the past Raptors. If an employee produces magnificent results even if he work less days, chances are the employer would still keep the employee. I'm sure by now you know that working hours do not necessarily equate to productivity.

I say let LAC do what they want with their players (or in this case, very valuable assets). People might get angry, but that's the job for the PR department.

This is only news because of money and how marketable Kawhi is. The clippers and every team should have the right to do whatever they want with their roster. The league has an issue with the schedule, they need to cut 10-15 games off the schedule because the market for this game (NBA) has exponentially grown and human bodies have not.

Where were all these haters last year? yeah I know he was coming off an injury the year before, but that's all the more reason for him to rest his knee during the regular season so he can turn up again in the playoffs and once again be the dominant finals MVP we all know.
