Radiators mounted straight to the frame or with hard rubber mounts, not allowing the radiator to move, will break radiators and cause leaks at aluminum-plastic seams.

Thats a coincidence, my car is losing coolant, not from the radiator or the head gasket, as far as i know. Its another good video. Ive been a mechanic since i was 14 and I'm 65 now. Maybe i need to do YouTube videos.....

I bought my 2002 pathfinder here in Cleveland from a guy and the car was tip top. I stopped at an oil change place and had the oil changed. I had the guys replace the headlights too. It was a Firestone place. They showed me the crimps on the radiator was weeping a little fluid. I knew the SUV was sitting for the summer and I figured it would be ok once I started using it on a regular basis. So I was not concerned. Firestone gave me a quote to replace the radiator for 350 dollars. I know I can buy a new radiator on Ebay for 50 bucks and do it myself in 1/2 hour. Well it's been 2.5 years and my radiator is still holding tight and not weeping any more fluid. So my initial prognosis....

back when I was working at AutoZone I had a guy come in one time, he wanted to see how much a radiator wasfor his car and it was too much for his budget, so he was claiming he was going to chop up pieces of copper wire and put it into his radiator to seal the hole. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Good information as always. I have used the Bars Leaks head gasket repair in an old Toro commercial mower, and it did well. Engine (Renault Continental gasoline) is obsolete and I can't even find a gasket set for it on eBay. So an additive was a must. However the stuff did slow down my radiator (which is original eqpt, and 41 yrs old like the mower). So I ended up having it professionally cleaned at a good local shop for around $70 for a soak/backflush. So all told, it was the right thing (and only thing) I could have done. I am adding 'Seal Up' to my list of recommend problem solvers. If a car is leaking coolant into the oil supply, should a different type head gasket sealer be used such as K-Seal or Bars Leaks? I suspect they won't cause catastrophic failure should they leak into oil before leak is finally sealed, but wanted your opinion. Love your videos!!!

best trick to the "sodium silicate sealers" don't bother with engines that are smoking or milking the oil, only use it in ones that are slowly building gas into the radiator.....
also drill an 1/8" bypass hole int he top of the thermostat so and gas that would normally build up with flow past and out. most important, DO NOT be a shyster and sell the vehicle afterwards!!!!

Your enthusiasm make the videos intertaining while still being informative. Thanks also for the emphasis wo when NOTto use these sodium silicate sealers. I recently used the more expensive Blue Devil sealer. As you emphasized use only clean water. My oil was normal, so I lucked out on that part. Engine idled for 55 minutes with #4 plug out. Put it back in and reove for 3 weeks with no thermostat and just water & sealer. Seemed to work fine till I put coolant & thermostat bsck in. All is good till engine gets up to temperature. .!?
