I'm from the NW. As a young woman I worked in the fields with immigrants. There are very few American citizens who could or would do the hard work they do, for the 12-16 hour days on less than minimum wage. It's barely better than slave labor. Our economy has benefited from those hard working families. They are Christian people with strong morals. We have taken advantage of them for years.

It's hard to say were the food goes. I worked at a Kansas plant that went to some local places and some other states. Many food places in the South uses immigrants that may or may not be legal and because most of them are temps no one knows for sure.
