Mr. Killmer. So, now that I enabled notifications, What does it mean when an audible beeping sound; is coming from passenger side, under the hood of a 2001 Grand Caravan Sport. Lasts for 1-1/2 minutes, then disappears?
So? It's not Sputnik. Or is it........?
Who else is going to figure it out, with "more than 50 years of experience fixing cars!"

the problem with America isn't that vehicle, it's the people who keep buying them, knowing full well they are pieces of crap, but they keep buying them anyway.

I liked all 3 of my chrysler vans. I did own 2 at one time so I could interchange the parts in case one broke down which came in handy 2 days before a vacation. I got to say. I still miss my 2003 chrysler T&C. It had more features than my current 2010 VW Routan.(my 3rd "chrysler")

          Hi Scotty 👋🏻
          Thanks for the video.
I have a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country LWB which was build in Canada. The SWB were built in the US.
I have owned it for around 5 years and it now has 170,000 miles. I have the original engine and transmission. It has been taken care of, no rust and oil changes every 3,000 miles. Also, I drop the pan and change the transmission filter and drain the fluid every 50,000 miles.
I’m happy to report it hasn’t ever let me down (so far) and I driven across country to California a couple of times, plus some trips up to Canada, to Missouri and down to Florida.
My question is, did I just get really lucky with my own vehicle, or is it that the LWB was built in Canada 🇨🇦?
I hear you say a lot of good things about Canadian build quality.

I just traded in my 2002 Grand Caravan for a 2017 RAV4 yesterday. I bought the Caravan new and kept up the maintenance, but had nothing but trouble with it after the first year. There was an intermittent grumbling sound around the drive belt, but I got $2000 trade in, since it looked good overall. My wife isn't happy, but she never had to work on it and she always hates new things until she gets used to it. The RAV4 can't even compare to the POS Grand Caravan.

Never owned one myself, but I drove a 2011 Grand Caravan when I took a customer of mine to her appointments, for 3 yrs. I was her driver, her van. It had SO many hiding spaces, comfy seats, with that 'Sto-N-Go', the seats folded into the floor, 3 rows of seats all disappeared, could haul plenty ladders or lots of drywall. Rode like an old luxo-boat from the 80's, always heard it was junk on wheels, but it wasn't mine and she never had a repair on it in 3 yrs. of using it. There was even an 'extra long warranty' on the 6th cyl. ONLY! I think it was a 3.8L. IF it leaked and caused the engine to self destruct, she would get a new engine for free! A weird warranty. But I would never buy any of them, to many horror stories. But driving one was a pleasure, loved ALL those power opening doors.

I wouldnt hate on them that much. I had a 97 town and country that had 401k with 3.8, then the tranny gave out but with routine maintenance they will last but as for the body rust will sure eat away at it

I had a 2002 with a 3.8 and a 41te trans. I had it for 14 well maintained /trouble free years with just routine maintenance . I sold it on to a guy who turned into a taxi! It had 212,000 miles when I sold it to him. He drove it another 50,000 uneventful miles before it was wrecked! Who knows how much longer it could have gone!

No scotty you are dumb. You think people keep buying an unreliable van over and over again. You are clearly biased against chrysler it's obvious. I own a 2010 DGC with the 3.3 it has 250000 kms and never anything wrong. Best car I've ever owned. I know tons of people who are on their third van because they are great for the money. No I don't work for chrysler. BTW you are also biased for toyota that's obvious too. Most of my friends that had toyotas say they were junk. The Tundra is a total disaster of unreliability. The only possible problems I can see with these vans are rust but my van rusted less than my GM's so who really knows. That being said I haven't seen any rusted 2011 or newer vans so i think they fixed that problem.

The Caravan is an example of great utility design and poor execution.

My 2005 has been solid performer for the last four years. We bought ours at 160,000 miles and now have 270,000. We replaced the radiator. Had a lite tune up and just replaced the battery.

It is cheaply made but... If your real gentle with her and run synthetic oils, it just runs and runs.

Town mileage is only 14 mpg but gets 25 on highway at 60 mph.

Hauls a lot and reconfigures seating.

I consider it to be my favorite all time vehicle to drive. Great visibility and decent ride.

                                              We love our Caravan.

It was always breaking down- but the parts were always cheap. Then... it tried to kill me. The computer system started going out. Lost all power while I was driving with my kids. Locked up the steering wheel and lost headlights. We almost died! I did some research and found out that this Is super common! I talked to so many people who had the same issue.

When the heater core sprung a leak I noticed coolant loss after replacing. Heating was wankey and more coolant loss. No leaks either. Head gasket was leaking. It went to scrap. I felt I got my money's worth at only $3,500.00.

The older Grand Caravans were actually pretty decent vehicles. If your customer has gone through three transmissions, it's more likely that they don't know how to drive than it is that they got three bad transmissions in a row.

Not the coolest car on the road, but look around the next time you're on the highway. Those things are still rolling everywhere.

Overall the vehicle has been VERY reliable, and very utilitarian. The thing is the rust and the rot. Holy $***, the underside of the thing is rusted to absolute hell. The Fords and Chevys our family has owned have not even come close to rotting as bad as this thing. Strut towers are starting to rot, the frame, the floor pan, rear suspension shackles, every door about a foot and a half from the bottom, the rear hatch, the rear axle. It's like they used Chinese pot metal as the primary material

Sometimes the computer controlling the doors gets a bit confused, but it resets and all works great. No issues with anything other than a bit of rust as it spent its time in the north. I understand what Scotty is saying, but our van just keeps going and going well, and then there is Stow-and-Go!!!! - the best thing since sliced bread and flushable toilets!!
