Is the actor reading the will the same who played General Hochstadder on Hogan's Heroes? Familiar voice.

When the record stuck and he says: It's a 78---that was funny. They could have done a better job on some of the spelling, too.

Yup; I can see why; in fact, this scene should be in every film directors head as a How Not To.

Yeah, I can see why they left that out. I'm glad they did.

I thought it was really funny and you can see how this explained the first scene, but you can see how it isn't necessary. The first scene in the final version worked with no questions as to what led to it.

Still, a scene about 7min 18 sec too long.

What is the POINT? I hate "deleted scenes" on DVD's & never watch them. Why do ppl even want to see discarded crap? Dumpster-diving mentality I suppose. Scenes are deleted for a *reason* - bc they suck! - and never is that more apparent than here. An insanely long, unnecessary & totally unfunny scene (regretting my brief curiosity & stopped watching after 90 seconds of disbelief at its awfulness). Thank god they left this mess on the cutting room floor. Where it should've stayed, & certainly not be on YouTube. It does zero justice to that hilarious, classic movie... a damn shame it's on here.

Actually this scene explains a lot. I always was confused as the father with the grandfather. I did not think this dragged at all. In fact this gives more story to the movie and makes it less of a farce (even though it is).

( a BETTER young frankenstein. ) you can also put the beginning of escape from new york at the BEGINNING of escape from new york. [Kurt Russel robs a good deal of money from a bank, with somebody, then tries to escape on some kinda subway or train] then, you cue it up where the movie begins, with him pulled out of a van after his capture where he "puts his hands in the air. " studios as early as 1975 were trying to reduce movies to 100 minutes from 120 minutes, anticipating the "format wars" of taped media. hence the removal of this scene (as well as Teri Garr answering the door when the "inpector" police captain with the prosthetic arm raps upon the door upstairs, and Gene Wilder asks her to go answer.) that nightgown and robe..
