I'm a web dev (mostly back end) and android dev and recently I've been looking for replacements for my MacBook pro and my company gave me the pixel book go and man. It's been really really really nice. Having Linux available and all of chrome and Google syncing has been a HUGE plus. Typically when I'm not at my desk I just plug my s10 in to a work station and use DeX but the pixel book is surprisingly really really really nice. I don't think it's powerful enough to do my android development but I now understand why there's an i7 Chromebook. Definitely not ever gonna be a mainstream os, mostly cause people don't want to acknowledge they only use chrome for 99% of what they do...and the other 1% is either iMessage or Microsoft Outlook lol...but with the touchscreen and not needing to click and drag with a mouse...even the android apps perform a lot better. I saw a video of a guy using on of those controller mapping apps to map the keyboard commands to android apps and it's a game changer. I finally understand Chromebooks. And I finally understand the high end ones with i7 and 16gigs of ram.

5:30 - can't switch between personal and work accounts.... jaja, yes, you can, and quickly. "....Once you’ve set that up, use Alt + Ctrl + > or Alt + Ctrl + < to quickly switch between accounts. " And FYI, I work for a business that only uses Chromebooks, and we do just fine without Windows. :)

Schools should get laptops with windows os, or Linux os like fedora and ubuntu, not chromebooks. These are full os unlike chome os.

It’s for GO! If you want to use Pro apps, go to your PC desktop or other powerful notebooks. It’s already super good with daily activities like watching youtube, doing office work with Docs, and coding. Android apps can make up most of it for other complimentary usages. Pro apps will develop, once Chrome OS gets more popular like what is happening to iPad OS. View it from an ordinary customer not from your pro view which doesn’t represent massive market. Not everyone is a YouTuber.

Battery life and build quality are phenomenal and 95% of what I need for my medical school I can do on here and the rest my iPad can take care of. I seriously love the keyboard and with the amount I have to type it’s the best decision I ever made

If you want a high end chromebook, go on ebay and get a Chromebook Pixel 2015 edition. It's about 10,000x better than this thing and only cost about $250

no, chrome os will never get respect. yes they may have more chrome books in schools, but that’s because they’re easy to put restrictions on and are cheap. Any laptop running chrome os and is priced more than $300 is disgusting. I don’t care how many cool things the laptop itself has, you’re only as fast as your slowest runner, and chrome os is the slowest runner in existence. chrome os just sucks ass and never will be nice.

Switch it to windows or mac, and it’ll be worth the price.

Did you even search for some of the "problems" you have? You can absolutely switch between accounts without logging out: https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/6088201?hl=en
Microsoft's mobile office suite is fantastic on Android, and works great on Chromebooks. In fact, the answer to a lot of your problems here is: use the Android app. Photoshop, Office, and yes many games. The "cool ones" support controllers - just grab a bluetooth controller - either XBox One or Playstation 4 controllers work natively and play.

Not to mention all the benefits of ChromeOS - lightweight, always up to date, the most secure OS available, no configuration issues, super stable - even a backup of the last working version if something does go wrong, very fast, etc.

If you absolutely need some early 2000s Windows apps, then sure, you're not a good candidate for a chromebook. But to Chromebooks are not good for anyone is simply incorrect. I only have Chrombook laptops and they suit me and my family perfectly well. I spend much less time maintaining them than I did the Mac and Windows laptops we had before.
