let the 1% vote for whom ever they want... the rest will vote for someone who wants to fix the problems... not someone bought by the 1%ers.

The stock market is only up due to the stock buy backs made possible from Trump's tax refunds. WHICH means that the market is falsely over inflated... so if a progressive D get's in and cause a market correction... ie. downward movement... it will just be undoing the stupidity of the Trump tax breaks.

If the Billionaires were really scared of Warren, this story would never air on this show. They're scared of Bernie, that's why he wasn't mentioned once even though he started this entire progressive movement.

Only in America and I really mean only in America the poorly educated and the people on really low incomes who nevertheless work an 8 hourr day( that’s in Austria) vote for Republicans or even Trump! Who do not have their interests at heart! It has to be American education! Parents tell their children, you can be everything you want, not at all taking in account their actual abilities! And obviously every American Hillbilly who’s never seen a toothbrush in his or her life seems to think, that they themselves might become millionaires at some time in the future! And then they’ll profit from low taxes! That takes some kind of delusion! At least in Europe most people know which party has their interests at heart!

We can't even Obamacare through the line, And now she thinks she can just make proclamations and it will happen, American's are soo naive. If Warren or Sanders got control, the first thing billionaires would do is shut down whatever business made them rich and sack everyone. Then they'd move to a tax haven like United Arab Emirates. Any billionaire would do that. So, if these tax-the-rich policies pass, enjoy your newfound unemployment.

I understand that they have to pay tax on dividends which they already do, and pay tax from renting out. The problem is someone is getting taxed for having something. So if a company reports a loss and the stakeholders do not receive dividend, the fact that they are being taxed for having a stake will mean they have to pay tax for just having it 🤦🏽‍♂️.

@emman emman , it seems to me that all such systems ultimately fail to greater or lesser degree as a result of human nature. It seems to me that a socialist/communist system is the best in the ideal, but such systems can't possibly work because of people. It seems to me that that is the type of system that would occur naturally if people weren't selfish and greedy.

Like all systems, capitalism has its pros and cons. The fact that we're seeing the separation between the haves and have-nots in capitalist societies growing is an indication of capitalism's cons. Given the givens of human nature, a capitalism-based system is probably the best we can do but it needs to be tempered.

The difference of opinion in most developed countries is exactly how much tempering should be done and exactly what form it should take. Those on the right of politics tend to want less and those on the left tend to want more.

Many on the right of US politics take great glee in calling someone like Bernie Sanders a socialist, invoking the same old "reds under the beds" approach of the Cold War, while ignoring his actual policies. Bernie regularly advocates for systems like those implemented in Scandinavian countries, yet people like Ben Shapiro simultaneously call him a socialist and insist that Scandinavian countries are capitalist. What Bernie is actually advocating for is tempering of capitalism in the US as it is done in Scandinavian countries. There's an honest discussion to be had on that but people like Shapiro aren't interested in an honest discussion.

Anyway, I might have drifted off-topic a bit here. I can't even recall what specific video these comments were made on. Never a bad time for an anti-Shapiro rant though.

@emman emman , even if you're completely right though, so what? The fact that people's wealth is in assets rather than cash doesn't really make a difference. If they needed to pay for something in cash, they'd sell an asset. It still amounts to the same thing. Bill Gates is doing just that through his foundation. If he can liquidate assets to pay for things through his foundation, he and those like him can do so to pay tax. It's a fact that any billionaire could give up significant amounts of their wealth and not notice a change in their lifestyle. As you say, much of their wealth is in assets so they're not going to miss those assets because they don't actually do anything for them. Those people have used their power to extract resources from the available pool and thus make it that much harder for the vast majority of people to get any wealth for themselves. Capitalism's greatest advocates concentrate heavily on the fact that capitalism is predicated on the fact that anyone can make it while ignoring that it is also predicated on the fact that most won't.

@emman emman , I can't comment on specific statements that I haven't seen but a lot of people I've heard are basically talking about money that they should already have paid in tax, not necessarily just taking an arbitrary chunk of money from people. Maybe some people want to do that but I doubt that there are many who, when push came to shove, would suggest implementing a policy where every billionaire was told to simply give up a chunk of their existing wealth. That sounds rather like right-wing propaganda to me.
