Had a Runza sandwich for the first time a few months ago after travelling across Nebraska a few times. The bierock was damn good but their onion rings are gangster.

Piroggi or piroshki come from Poland. In Russia they call them cheburek, kinda all the same. Beer batter or simple noodle dough (in russia made with vodka ofc), filled with roasted ground pork and deep fried actually.

I feel like the Beirock was so close to being the first cheesesteak hot pocket type of thing. All you need to do is swap the cabbage for some fried onions and that thing would sell like crazy.
